ELECTION COMMISSIONERS

Vernon H. Rodrigue, Clerk of Court and Parish Custodian of Voting Machines in Lafourche Parish, encourages residents of the parish to serve as Election Commissioners at the various voting precincts. Interested persons must attend an Election Commissioner School for new Commissioners.

A person interested in becoming a Commissioner must meet the following qualifications:

1. must be a registered voter in Lafourche Parish
2. shall not be entitled to assistance in voting
3. shall not be a candidate in the election
4. shall not have been convicted of an election offense

A Commissioner who serves at the polling place on Election Day and who has received a certificate of instruction shall receive $200.00.

A person interested in becoming a Commissioner-in-Charge must meet the same qualifications as a Commissioner, shall have served as a Commissioner in at least two elections during the last four years, and also shall have successfully completed a general course of instruction for Commissioners-in-Charge. The Commissioner-in- Charge school is held in November of each year. A Commissioner - in- Charge who serves at the polling place on Election Day and who has received a certificate of instruction shall receive $250.00
